The first Gundam ever developed, the prototype mobile suit known as the XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero was first conceived around AC 175, designed to incorporate technology and materials that hadn’t existed at that point in time. The central feature of Wing Zero was the ZERO System, an interface system designed to directly transmit data into the pilot’s brain in order to achieve perfect victory.
The five scientists who developed Wing Zero grew to fear that its awesome power could drive its pilot insane and ultimately suspended development on the Gundam and sealed away the blueprints for Wing Zero. The five scientists later used the Wing Zero as the basis for the five Gundams that would be used for Operation Meteor in AC 195.
However, Quatre Raberba Winner, consumed with grief and rage after his father’s death, would find the blueprints for Wing Zero and finally complete the Gundam, only to be overwhelmed by the power of the Zero System to the point of madness. From that point on, the Wing Zero would be used by several individuals before it ultimately ended up in the hands of Heero Yuy.
