Around the mid 21st century, humanity developed sophisticated AI that allowed them to create robotic workers and servants. And for a time, it was good.
But the robots slowly became self-aware and demanded greater rights from their human masters. The humans responded with violence, destroying thousands of machines in the process. The robots who escaped created their own nation called 01.
It wasn’t long before 01 became a mighty superpower that dominated the global economy. Tensions between humanity and 01 would ultimately result in a catastrophic global war that would destroy the world…and give birth to the Matrix.
