A small gambling and trading hub in the Belt, Eros fell victim to a horrific “experiment,” conducted through a conspiracy at the highest levels of power, and involving the newly discovered Protomolecule. Overrun and consumed, Eros became a weapon pointed at Earth. Yet, through the joint military efforts of Earth, Mars, and the Belt, and the sacrifice of two human beings, Earth was saved, and Eros itself grew a consciousness. And in so doing, it would open a vast Expanse before humanity.
