In the aftermath of the fall of the Terran Confederacy and the death of the Zerg Overmind, the Koprulu sector was thrown into chaos, with the Zerg caught in a bitter power struggle; the newly established Terran Dominion hunting down anyone who could oppose them, including remnants of the Confederacy and Raynor’s Raiders; and the United Earth Directorate suddenly appearing to gain control of the Koprulu sector.
