After his family was killed during the Unknown Enemy’s first attack, known as the Day the Angel Fell, Grodek Ainoa joined the Earth Federation’s military and rose to become deputy commander of the Federation’s forces in space colony Nora. When the UE attacked Nora, Grodek found out the captain of the Federation battleship Diva had intended to abandon the colony’s residents to the UE and subsequently seized control of the ship in order to evacuate the civilians before the colony was destroyed. Grodek soon went rogue, acting as captain of the Diva and using both the ship and the Gundam in pursuit of vengeance against the UE.
